How to Apply for a Watershed Protection Grant
The Watershed Protection Fund accepts applications for projects designed to benefit the water quality and ecosystem of San Francisco Bay, the San Francisco-San Joaquin Bay/Delta, and tributaries to the Bay/Delta Water system. From time to time, the Foundation is also able to accept proposals to benefit Southern California watersheds, and other coastal areas.
Average grant size is $5,000 to $20,000.

The Watershed Protection Fund primarily supports projects working to benefit the water quality of the San Francisco Bay/Delta estuary and its watershed. Currently, limited funding for projects benefiting the Russian River watershed is also available.
Review Deadlines
The Watershed Protection Fund has grant cycles twice per year. Letters of Inquiry are welcomed throughout the year. Inquiries received by February 15 are reviewed for the Spring/Summer grant cycle. Letters received by August 15 are reviewed for the Fall/Winter grant cycle.
