How to Apply for a Grant

Rose Foundation administers a series of grantmaking funds (listed below). Each fund has distinct eligibility criteria and scope of work that it supports. Each fund also has distinct and separate application processes and deadlines. The Foundation generally discourages applicants from applying to more than one fund at the same time. Prospective applicants should review the descriptions of each fund, and determine which one is the best fit for their organization and program.

Environmental Grants
The Rose Foundation administers environmental grantmaking funds in California, Washington and Oregon. These funds include Grassroots Funds that award small grants to small organizations; Watershed Protection Funds that focus on specific watersheds including Puget Sound and the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta; and several other Funds including place-based funds in Madera and Kern County. Please review the individual fund descriptions and eligibility requirements to determine which fund is the best fit for your project.
Consumer Protection Grants
The Rose Foundation administers consumer funds to address the issues of consumer privacy and financial education. Please review the individual fund descriptions and eligibility requirements to determine which fund is the best fit for your project.
Community Leadership Project
The Community Leadership Project is a joint effort of the David and Lucile Packard, James Irvine and the William and Flora Hewlett foundations to build the capacity of community-based organizations serving low-income people and communities of color. As a part of Community Leadership Project (or CLP) the Rose Foundation will support 9 San Francisco Bay Area organizations over a 3-year period to help them strengthen their leadership, become more financially stable and resilient to changing conditions.
